What We Do
A dynamic, active group, Hemlock Farms Conservancy supports and raises awareness of the environment in numerous ways:
We sponsor many meaningful and fun nature-focused events. We give a yearly scholarship to a Pike County student with career goals to care for the environment. We steward parcels of land within Hemlock Farms. We actively partner with conservation groups, including Penn State Extension, the Pike County Tick Borne Diseases Task Force, the American Chestnut Tree Foundation, the Pike/Wayne Conservation Partnership, and the East Stroudsburg University Tick Lab. We are proud to be approved by Pennsylvania's State Conservation Commission as a Nominating Organization to Pike County Conservation District. This role is valuable to the Pike County Commissioners as they seek qualified individuals to serve on the Conservation District Board. All of this is accomplished through the efforts of an active, all-volunteer Board of Trustees and our generous sponsors. Interested in joining or sponsoring our fun, dynamic group? We are always looking for new volunteers and sponsors! |
IMPACT
Some of Our Accomplishments
Our History
Hemlock Farms Conservancy began in 2009 as a concept of a group of conservation minded HFCA staff and community members. These individuals saw the need to educate others about the natural resources of the greater Pike County, PA area. Their desire has become an active volunteer group that works hard to conserve, protect, and sustain the forested ecosystem that is so beloved by Pike County residents and visitors.
Hemlock Farms Conservancy has raised awareness of environmental issues through educational activities, guided outdoor events and trail walks, camp events, and partnership with other conservation entities. Conservancy has also provided funding and scholarships for organizations and students within Hemlock Farms and Pike County. All of this is accomplished through the efforts of an all-volunteer Board of Trustees and staff. These volunteers give generously of their time, talent, and treasure. All are welcome to join our efforts. Hemlock Farms Conservancy is a section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Our Mission: As stewards of the close relationship between people and the environment, Hemlock Farms Conservancy seeks to conserve, protect, and sustain our forested natural resources. We accomplish this through education, funding, and support of projects in Hemlock Farms and the greater Pike County area. |
